Renault has not simply refreshed this car’s aesthetic, though. Unlike the original, whose only true rival was the Juke, this one will enter a pool teeming with strong alternatives, including the new Ford Puma, Volkswagen T-Cross and Peugeot 2008. Which is why we now have the second-generation Captur. If you have a tighter budget, you could choose an earlier 1.5-litre diesel model instead. No, the reason this car can boast about that sort of sales statistic is because that sort of sales statistic is indicative of a rapidly and inexorably growing class, which the B-segment SUV – small crossovers, in other words – continues to be and in which the Captur’s mix of style and value made it particularly successful. These were only available after the 2017 update, so they’re a bit more expensive. The best version of the Mk1 Renault Captur is the 1.3-litre petrol with a manual gearbox and in mid-spec Iconic trim. It was much more upmarket inside than before, despite its affordable price, and the driving experience had been greatly improved as well. The second-generation model came out in 2019 and was better in just about every way. The update also brought LED lights and a different grille, plus some more equipment. It was initially available with 0.9 and 1.2-litre petrol engines and a 1.5-litre diesel, although as part of a 2017 facelift the 1.2 was dropped and a 1.3-litre model was added instead. The first Renault Captur arrived in 2013, using Renault Clio parts but with a raised-up body and a more practical interior. Many of the second-generation cars still have some time left on their factory warranty, which will give some peace of mind, but you’ll also be able to make a saving on the asking price. ![]() You could save quite a bit of cash on a used or nearly new Renault Captur. What about buying a used or nearly new Renault Captur? This will help it appeal to business drivers, but at just over £30,000, the plug-in hybrid is expensive to purchase outright. ![]() The new E-Tech hybrid offers diesel-like fuel efficiency, while the E-Tech plug-in hybrid (they’re two quite different options despite the same name) has a pure-electric range of around 30 miles, helping it achieve an official CO2 emissions rating of just 34-36g/km. Two-tone paintwork remains a trademark look, with 90 combinations possible to help your Captur stand out. ![]() It’s still curvy but also slightly more chiselled and LED lights are now standard, with a C-shaped design similar to the Renault Megane. In fact, the Captur has such a vast array of talents it won the Best Small Family Car award in the Carbuyer Best Car Awards in 20, only losing out to the newer Kia Niro in 2023.Ĭustomers loved the look of the first car, so the similarity of the latest Captur is unsurprising. There's even a plug-in hybrid E-Tech version to appeal to business drivers and those looking to shrink their carbon footprint it has few rivals at a similar size or price. Spacious rear seats and generous boot space help it win over families compared with the Renault Clio supermini on which it’s based, and it’s just as cheap to run and not much more expensive to buy. Renault has made the Captur slightly bigger inside and out compared with the model it replaced, modernised its design and made it better to drive and sit in. The Renault Captur is much improved over the first model, and you can tell the French marque has put in a real effort to make its Captur the best all-rounder it won our Carbuyer award for Best Small Family Car in both 20. Buyers now have small SUV crossovers like the fun-to-drive Ford Puma, Peugeot 2008 – with great interior quality – and practical Volkswagen T-Cross to choose from. The original Renault Captur popularised the crossover formula alongside its rival, the Nissan Juke, but the second-generation model has a tough job on its hands going up against a growing list of competitors. A selection of petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains also keep running costs down and provide plenty of choice to appeal to both private and business drivers. ![]() Some have more interior space than the Renault Captur, and others, such as the Ford Puma, are sharper to drive, but the Captur sets high standards in many areas, including value for money and reliability. The crossover SUV class has become even more competitive in recent years, and buyers are spoilt for choice.

So when Sister begins to fall for him you know that it can’t end up well. When this character first appears on screen you can tell that he is bad news. Even his name invokes negative emotions within you. Although the real world doesn’t have villains, Satin is pretty darn close.Everything he says and does feels generally sincer. He’s smooth but not a player, determined and generally very likable. Any other actor couldn’t pull that off without seeming like a stalker but somehow Thomas makes it work. Then out of nowhere plants a big one without even asking her first. He comments on how she smells good and looks good and wonders has she ever been kissed. One of the first scenes he is in involves him helping Sparkle with her laundry. It’s takes a special type of actor to play Stix without making seem like a creepy jerk. Philip Thomas as Stix was a good pick for casting. She was a great character and McKee plays her perfectly. Her death was a huge shock to me when I first saw the film and still surprises me. That’s why it’s so unfortunate that she allows her to be influenced and taken advantage of by Satin. Everyone knows someone like and it makes sense for Sparkle to look up to her. She’s not afraid of trouble but isn’t necessarily a trouble maker. The moment she comes on scene, she’s sassy and high spirited. ![]() McKee sells this role because I truly believe that she is this character. Until her death, the story seems to mostly focus on her as she becomes the lead singer of the group. Sister is my favorite character in the movie and is actually the star for the first two thirds of the film. You don’t feel like she is playing just a role but is being the character and you can’t ask for anything more than that. Cara convinces me that she is this character and that her struggle is our struggle. She’s innocent yet smart, she’s determined but not over ambious, she’s passionate but not over dramatic. But after some research, I learned that she was in the hit musical “Fame” and had a brief singing career with her famous song “Flashdance…What a Feeling.” In the film, I feel like I can totally identify with her character. Since this movie came out before I was even born, I was not familiar with this actress or her works.Setting: the Ghetto and poor in the late 1960s.Bad lighting and average looking costumes.Ironically, when I was actually looking for the film in the $5 dollar bin it wasn’t there but thank goodness for YouTube! However, I figured that since Houston was doing the remake, I wanted to see the original first for comparison. I saw the movie countless times in the $5 dollar Wal-Mart bin but never paid it any mind because I had heard nothing about it. I never paid much attention to this film until I heard that there was going to be a remake with Whitney Houston in it.In the end, she reunites with Stix and performs by herself on stage. From there on, Sparkle must find her own success because she can no longer hide behind the shadow of her sister. Her sister, Sister, gets caught up in an abusive relationship and cocaine use which eventually leads to her death. However, Levi drops out of the group to work for the local gangster Satin. ![]() The Williams sisters- Sister, Dolores and Sparkle are singers in their local church but their friends Stix (also Sparkle’s love interest) and Levi who arranges the 5 of them into a singing group called “The Hearts.” The Hearts enter a local talent contest and win with the help of Sister’s sex and stage appeal. ![]() General Synopsis: Set in the late 1950s, Sparkle is the story of a young girl trying to make it as a professional singer but must overcome the obstacles of her family falling apart. In this post, I will be comparing the 1976 version of the musical drama “Sparkle” to the so called “new and improved” 2012 version of “Sparkle.” What motivated me to compare these two versions of the same movie was ultimately two things: 1) I have very strong opinions pertaining both films but 2) I ordered 1976 version from Amazon and received the 2012 version. Wanda is also close to Carrot though she was initially worried when the minks could not find her after the latter snuck onboard the Thousand Sunny, Wanda admitted that she was simply glad to know where she was. She is very caring and fiercely loyal to Inuarashi, to the point of crying when he woke from his coma, and will not stand for anyone, including Inuarashi himself, downplaying his strength, as demonstrated when she responded to Inuarashi claiming that a defeated warrior like him could not be called "the greatest warrior in the land" by pointing out how he only lost due to being poisoned by the Koro gas. Wanda cares very much for her fellow minks she was brought to tears by the Beasts Pirates' relentless slaughter of her people and looked back on the torture they underwent during Jack's invasion with great sadness.
